Turquoise Stone

Turquoise stone is made of a chemical compound consisting of hydrous basic phosphate of copper and aluminum. This occurs over a period of millions of years when water trickles through a host stone. Overtime, it gradually leaves a deposit which result into what we know today as Turquoise.  If the blend of the mineral or rock has more percentage of copper, then the turquoise stone will have a bluish tone color.  On the other hand, if there is more aluminum in the deposit, it will result in a more greenish to white color.  In the case of where Zinc is added, a more yellow-green color will appear in the stone.  The same Zinc will also add strength to the already harden stone more.  Also, if part of the host rock includes other minerals, this can result in a darker or black and browns colors to the stone. This is known as Turquoise matrix.

Turquoise has been long called by   "fallen skystone" as it brings up the imagery of a clear blue sky with water running though it.  Other names include stone of the sky and stone of water.  

This gorgeous stone has been valued by numerous cultures for thousands of years for not only its intrinsic beauty but and also apparent religious symbol. The stone is known in various cultures as stone of good fortune, security, vitality, and good health.  

In the jewelry world, it is wonderful and magnificent stone celebrated for its illustrious color. Turquoise comes in a variety of colors, textures and harnesses. Its color can range from rich green and/or yellow green to a vibrant vivid blue and/or very light blue.
